HISTORY
On one of our Missionary visits to the Philippines, we met an 11 year old girl selling “turon”(banana fritters). She said it’s hard for her to go to school because her parents can’t afford to pay for her bus fare and school lunch so she had to work. Many children from the poverty stricken areas of the Philippines are extremely under privileged. They have to work by selling flowers, peanuts, banana fritters, sweets, etc. on the streets to be able to go to school and help their family. The money they earn is not even enough. Their fathers are on-call construction workers, and their mothers are rag sewers/homemaker and make very little income. It’s just enough to buy one or two meals a day for the family.
In May 2018, Refuge & Hope partnered with Kids’ Home to establish the Tulong Aral program. Sponsors help by providing clothing, school lunches, bus fare and materials needed for their schoolwork.
A donation of $25 per month for each child will help him/her be able to receive education and help the family.
