HISTORY

In January 2014, God called Jeff and Marilou to go to India on a 10 day Missions trip.  They met Pastor Vijay and his wife, Rebecca, in one of the cities they were visiting.  Pastor Vijay was in charge of the different ministries involved in the Missions trip itinerary.

One day, as they were taking a break from the ministries, Sister Rebecca brought four children infected with HIV to meet Jeff, Marilou, and the other team members.  They gladly welcomed the kids and talked to them for a few minutes.  Little did they know that God was opening the door for a ministry with the children.

After they came back from India, Pastor Vijay started communicating with them about the children.  Jeff and Marilou had been serving in Sunday School at Refuge AC and they loved and enjoyed teaching the kids about God.  One day, they realized that God was putting a burden in their hearts to start a ministry to these children in India at Refuge American Canyon.

In June 2014, the Refuge & Hope Ministry was born.  The purpose of this ministry is to minister and provide support to the HIV infected/affected orphans of India through family/individual sponsorship.  The goal is to help the orphans put their trust in Jesus and find refuge in Him.

Refuge and Hope Children’s Home was built in 2014 and ten children were put in the home.  The children were semi orphans whose remaining parents are infected with HIV and are not able to take care of their child/children anymore.  They also belong to the lower caste system where their jobs can’t even pay for their own meals.  We are very grateful to God for opening this door so that we may show his love to these beautiful children.

God has rescued these children from extreme poverty and hopelessness.  They have found the true hope.  They are now walking with Jesus with the hope of salvation.  Glory to God!
